The first three miniatures are doctors with patients who have cautery points marked on their bodies; the fourth shows doctors treating gout: one holds the patient's tongue, the other catches the blood that pours from his ankle-joints, with the instructions, 'burn in this manner (incenditur sic) or 'thus' (sic, ita). At the top left, the cautery points for a toothache are identified as between the ears and the temples; next to points for a tertian fever (one recurring every forty-eight hours), and for dropsy. Next to this in the next frame is a figure with the points for cautery and bloodletting for a patient with quartan fever, and for one with a kidney or hip illness. In the bottom left, are points for sciatica sufferers (naked), and for a patient with quotidian fever, with the points for both cautery and phlebotomy. The lower right frame contains a seated figure ill with podagra, the figure below holding the bleeding cup with the points for tumors or other illness of the knees, and to the far right the points for hernia Medical and herbal collection, including Pseudo-Apuleius, Herbarius; Pseudo-Dioscorides, De herbis femininis (ff. 49v-73); Sextus Placitus, De medicina ex animalibus England, N.? or France, N.?; last quarter of the 12th century Language: Latin Source/Shelfmark: Sloane 1975, f.92v
