Society photographer. In the years 1898-1999 (?) Baron De Meyer traveled around the world to India and Japan with his new bride, a young woman who was commonly held to be the illegitimate daughter of king Edward VII of England. On this honeymoon De Mayer made what are today exceedingly rare photographs of the country. The only other substantial holdings of De Meyer's works of Japan are in the Metropolitan Museum, New York. In collection: 23 photographs by De Meyer which were discovered in De Meyer's effects after his death. In the 1910-1925 period De Meyer became one of the leading society and ad fashion photographers in the world. He was represented quite early in his career in the personal collection of Alfred Stiegliz.
