A half-length portrait of a young man, with hands, seated in armchair. Romney painted two 'Kitcat' portraits of the Hon. Philip Yorke. This one is in the pose of an Eton or Harrow leaving-portrait. From the mid-C18 it became customary for boys leaving these schools to present a portrait to their headmaster instead of a gratuity; unlike Eton portraits, thos at Harrow were returned on the death of the recipient.
