Oil painting on canvas, Called Anne Vernon, Mrs Thomas Wright (B. 1668; m. 1686) with her Daughter Matilda Wright, later Mrs Henry Vernon as a Child, British (English) School, late 17th century. A three-quarter-length portrait of a young woman, the wife of Thomas Wright of Great Longstone, Derbyshire, whom she married on 12 June 1686, with their daughter Matilda, seated, turned slightly to the left, gazing at the spectator, with a child standing by her side on the right. The child's hands are placed on the mother's left shoulder, the mother's left hand around the child's waist, her right hand across her lap. The mother wears a grey and white dress trimmed with gold, with a pink cloak hanging from her left shoulder and falling across her lap, the child is in a blue dress trimmed with gold; behind to the left is a gilt table supported by the figure of a satyr, a mirror on it, and at right is a green drape trimmed with a gold fringe.
