A half length portrait of Mary Cowan, wife of Alexander Stewart, who bought the demesne of Mount Stewart. She is shown in a dark green dress, clasping a bright red cloak, with a pillar and an orange curtain behind her to the right. The identification of the sitter as Mary Cowan is impossible, given the date of the painting. Mount Stewart, County Down (Accredited Museum)
