One of a set of six copies of Raphael's cartoons (originals in the Royal Collection displayed in the Victoria and Albert Museum). The early Christians under guidance of the apostles, sold their possessions and the proceeds were distributed according to each man's needs. Ananias with Sapphira his wife sold their land but kept back part of the price. They laid the remainder at the feet of St Peter, but Peter said ' why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land.
