Thadée Natanson (1868-19510 French lawyer, journalist, collector and co-founder with his brothers, Alexandre and Alfred, of the 'Revue Blanche; Misia Godebska (1872-1950) married Thadée in 1893 but divorced in 1904; she is better known as Misia Sert after marrying the painter, José Maria Sert in 1920 and was a pianist, muse of the 'Nabis' circle of painters and later a close friend of Coco Chanel; 'Le Relais' was the country house bought by Thadée Natanson and his wife Misia in 1897 and a centre for their artistic and literary friends (which included the Nabis painters Vuillard, Bonnard, Vallotton, Roussel as well as Toulouse-Lautrec, Proust, Coolus and Mérimée) until their divorce in 1904; this photo was probably taken by Thadée's brother, Alfred Natanson, a keen photographer;
