This view appears to have been shown at the 1862 exhibition of the Bengal Photographic Society: 'Our old friend Mr Rowe, has not contributed many pictures, but in those which he has sent there is a marked improvement...The Panorama of Calcutta is a fine Photograph, but the absence of moving life in so extended a space crowded with houses is felt in looking at this picture'.
