Malecki home movie, circa Easter 1952. Scene 1 The child is Walter John Malecki III born June 1951. Walter with his father, Walter “Mac” John Malecki II, 1929-2007, in striped tie. Next up are Mac’s wife, Walter III’s mother, Doris Virginia Norwood- Malecki (on left with light hair and dark drape over shoulders) (1933-2007) and her sister in law Ruth Ann Owings-M alecki (1932-2010) (on right with darker hair & corsage) walking with Walter III. Doris and Mac were married in August 1950. Next up is Norbert Melvin Malecki , 1930-2017, Mac’s brother. Norbert is walking with his then fiancé, future wife, Ruth. Next up is Mac, and Walter III, and Mac’s mother Marie Regina Kozlowski- Malecki -Smith 1908-1993. The little girl seen briefly on the right is Marie’s daughter, Mac’s half-sister, from her second marriage to Harry Williams Smith (1891-1967), Mary Barbara “Barbara” Smith-Geiss (1943-2006). Marie’s first husband, Walter Malecki I, was studying to be a pharmacist when he was stricken with Bright’s Disease, and died of a now treatable disease, leaving Marie to move back in with her mother and raise her two boys, Norbert age 1 and Mac, age 2. Scene 2: Sears, downtown Baltimore, cable car. This may be the Sears that was on North Ave. Doris worked at Sears for about 40 years until her retirement. Scene 3 Darkness, inside church, wedding, in the brief flashes stop frame is a bride. The whole Malecki family was connected to Holy Rosary Church in Baltimore. Ruth and Norbert were married in 30 Jan 1954 at St Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Baltimore, most likely and the Owings Family church. It is unknown what church or whose wedding is in this footage. Scene 4 Unknown: most likely scenes of Baltimore from the car. Family history Doris grew up at 3228 Chessley Avenue, Baltimore, MD. Marie grew up at 405 South Wolfe Street, Baltimore, MD. C. 1954-1980’s at 3113 Dillion Street, Baltimore, MD. When she was married to Walter I, where Norbert & Walter II was born, was Bank Street, at the Corner of Bank and Castle, Baltimore, MD. Then Walter 1 died, and they moved to Dillion Street. Up until 1954, when he got married, Norbert and Walter lived at Dillon Street, when Norbert got married, he moved into Ruth’s apartment on Carswell Street Baltimore. C. 1948 to 1951, about time of this film, Norbert worked at Western Electric, Assemblyman, working on assembly line putting together telephone switches. From 1951 to 1972 he worked at Universal Lithograph, Market Place, Baltimore, started as a helper and became an offset pressman. In 1955 he lived at 5533 Lothian Road, Govans, Baltimore, MD then in 1959 1010 Northern (East) Parkway, Baltimore, a row house where he raised his family. After Universal Lithograph he worked at Port City Press (1972-1984), where his hand was caught and mangled in a printing press and he would endure over 50 surgeries on his hand. Ruth descends from the Owings of Owings Mills. She grew up at 5306 York Road, Baltimore. Doris and Walter II “Mac” Malecki lived at 6401 Loch Raven Blvd, Baltimore, in later years. He was a salesman, she worked at Sears.
