Limbs Humerus of an adult human, and broken foot bones, Egyptian, 4000 BC- AD 200. View showing the humerus bone, which is in four parts, and the foot bones which are in the top right hand corner of the image. The humerus is the upper arm bone, between the elbow and the shoulder. This example is from the left arm of an adult and shows a healed unreduced fracture. It was excavated in Tell Fara, Egypt and is thought to originate from the Roman period, 100 BC-200 AD. The foot bones are from a human left foot and show the effects of osteoarthritis. These bones were also excavated in Egypt and are thought to be predynastic, 4000-2001 BC.; ©SSPL/Science Museum
