Film scene from The Dismissal at the Babelsberg Film Studios, 1942 (b/w photo)

In 1942, Wilhelmstraße in Berlin-Mitte was recreated in the UFA studios in Babelsberg (then: Neubabelsberg) for the filming of the Nazi history film "Die Entlassung" (The Dismissal), as the real Wilhelmstraße had already been scarred by numerous Allied air raids on Berlin and could no longer be used for historical exterior shots. In the carriage in the middle of the picture are the actors Werner Hinz and Herbert Hübner in their roles as Kaiser Wilhelm II and General Adjutant Wilhelm von Hahnke, respectively. The seal of the Filmprüfstelle can be seen on the shot (right).
