ELIAN GONZALEZ RIDES ON SHOULDERS OF FAMILY SPOKESMAN, 2000-01-08 (photo)

Elian Gonzalez rides on the shoulders of family spokesman Armando Guttierez January 8 at a relative's Miami home where the boy has been staying for more than six weeks. In an effort to halt the Immigration and Naturalization Service's decision to send the six-year-old back to his father in Cuba, the boy was served a subpoena by U.S. Rep. Dan Burton, (R/IN) to appear before the Committee on Government Reform on February 10. Elian has been living with relatives since he was found in the Atlantic Ocean clinging to an innertube November 25. The boy's mother, stepfather and 10 others died when the boat they were in sank as they attempted to reach the United States. CB
