Image description

Microsoft CEO and chairman Bill Gates and his wife Melinda, who is expecting their second child this June, arrive at the reopening of the nostalgic Cinerama Theater in Seattle, April 22. The Cinerama was saved from a wrecking ball by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen after he bought it in 1998. Allen spent nearly $11 million of his personal money to renovate the theater which originally opened in 1963 to showcase 70mm films. Now the theater is a mix of hi-tech devices such as rear window captioning for the hearing-impaired and retro decor. APB/JP/WS
