BERLIN'S GOVERNING MAYOR EBERHARD DIEPGEN AND BERLINER HYPBANK CHIEF OF THE BOARD EXECUTIVE WOLFGANG RUPF LEAVE CRISIS MEETING IN BERLIN. Berlin's governing Mayor Eberhard Diepgen (L) of the Christian Democratic Party's (CDU) and Wolfgang Rupf (R), chief of the board executive of the Berliner Hypbank leave a crisis meeting in Berlin March 12, 2001 of the ruling conservative Christian Democrats and the Social Democratic Party (SPD). The meeting discussed the latest developments of the resignation of Klaus Landowsky, the Christian Democratic Party's (CDU) floor leader in the Berlin state assembly from his job as executive chairman of he Berliner Hypbank which made the loan but would fight to hold onto his CDU post. Landowsky faced calls from within his own party to resign after it emerged he had accepted a 40,000 German ark ( $18,000) donation from a real estate agent and later arranged a 700-million German mark ($330 million) loan for the company.
