Autograph: 1645 letter written by Sir Thomas Fairfax, as Commander-in-chief of the Parliamentary forces, to Ferdinando, Lord Fairfax, his father, announcing his defeat of the Royalists under General Goring at Langport, in Somersetshire, Chedsey, within two miles of Bridgewater. Written 11 July 1645, the day after the battle. Signature: Thomas Fairfax. General and parliamentary commander-in-chief during the English Civil War, 17 January 1612 – 12 November 1671.
