Tribute to the Christ of the Abyss (colour litho)

Image description: Tribute to the Christ of the Abyss. On the fourth anniversary of the laying on the bottom of the beautiful bay of San Fruttuoso (Genoa) of the great statue dedicated to the Redeemer, groups of frogmen made a unique underwater pilgrimage. After listening to the Mass, celebrated on board a large boat, divers, professionals or amateurs, belonging to sports groups, jumped into the water. Some of them wore laurel wreaths, others clutched species of torches from which smoke and air bubbles rose to the surface. Illustration for Courier Sunday, 14 September 1958.
