The Thief's Surprise (Colour Litho)

The thief's surprise. Louis Thierry, who arrived in Rozay from Paris in the evening, is in front of an isolated and apparently unguarded villa. He plans to visit her. Break a window, get in. He finds nothing; the master, repeatedly robbed, had taken away all the valuables. He makes up for the disappointment by having a dinner of fried potatoes and coffee; then he locks himself in the room and falls asleep peacefully. A few hours later he was surprised to be awakened by the gendarmes no less surprised than he was for the unexpected meeting. Illustration for La Domenica Del Corriere, 17 March 1957.
