The drivers in official PTT uniforms receive an additional Red Cross bracelet before departure. On 25 November 1956, at the request of the Austrian government to the Federal Council, a car convoy of the PTT administration departs for Austria. 25 Postbuses carry the Swiss Red Cross badge and are supposed to help in the Hungarian crisis to bring Hungarian refugees from the collection points at the Austrian border to the reception centres in the interior of the country and from there on to Switzerland and other countries. The vehicles are accompanied by the drivers and mechanics of thirty Red Cross sisters.
