Image description

The Hornusser of the Derendingen association at the 15th Swiss Hornusser Festival in Berne, Switzerland, in August of 1952. The Swiss traditional sport of Hornussen is a cross between baseball and golf. The sport gets its name from the puck which is known as a 'Hornuss” (hornet) or 'Nouss'. When hit, it can whizz through the air at up to 300 km/h and create a buzzing sound. The batter bats the puck in the oponent's field, where the team tries to put it down with the help of wooden plates on long sticks
