A LEBANESE WOMAN STANDS IN A BURNT-OUT HOUSE IN MARJAYOUN, 2001-07-01 (photo)

A relative of former Lebanese militaman, Sami al-Zaybak, stands in his burnt-out house in the town of Marjayoun in south Lebanon. Zaybak is suspected of "collaborating" with Israeli forces during their 22-year occupation of south Lebanon. Only children returning from school and old men stroll the street of Marjayoun these days, but the veterans of Israel's vanquished Lebanese proxy army here fear the neighbor they don't see. As hundreds of members of the defiant south Lebanon army returned to the villages after serving jail terms for collaborating with Israel's 22 year occupation of south Lebanon they know well that all is not forgiven.
