Image description

Creator: Kenneth Hurlstone Jones A distant view of part of the walled town of Kowloon taken from Sacred Hill near the inscribed boulder 'Sung Wong Toi'. In the foreground are flat cultivated fields, fringed at the edges by single or two-storey buildings following the contour of the base of the hills. A second of the hill behind the main group of buildings has a thick stone wall leading up to the crest and back down the other side to the main crenellated wall of the town. The West Gate, a sibstantial structure, is positioned at the junction between the two types of walls on the left side of the settlement. The original negative envelope was labelled: 'Kowloon Native City 6.2.01'.
