The St. Louis Bridge now named Eads Bridge over the Mississippi River was built by engineer James Buchanan Eads 1820-1887 and the St. Louis Bridge and Iron Company. 1874 lithograph shows the Bridge surrounded by eight views of its construction diagrams of the piers and machinery and a portrait of James B.
