Pietro Bernardini lives in the steel and concrete platform which rises 11 km and 600 m off the coast of Rimini. At the moment, he is the only inhabitant of the island, rented for a year. The building begun in 1964, it rises above 9 steel pillars filled with concrete. It covers an area of 400 sqm, outside the Italian territorial waters. The creator and builder is engineer Giorgio Rosa. The Police motorboat monitors the island because the Italian government doesn't recognize its sovereignty. Italy, July 1968
