Kotillon. Kotillon war ein im spaten 19 Jahrh beliebter Gesellschaftstanz, zugleich der Hohepunkt des Balles. Er spiegelt die aus Prunkliebe, Standesdunkel und Parvenutum gemischte gesellschaftliche Auffassung der Grunderzeit wider. Man tanzte verschiedene Touren. Ein besonderer Reiz lag im Verteilen von Papier-Orden (!) an die Herren und Blumenstrausschen an die Damen. Translation: Cotillon. Cotillon was a popular ballroom dance in the late 19th century and was also the high point of the ball. It reflects the social conception of the Grunder period, which was a mixture of pompous love, class obscurity and parvenutum. You danced different tours. A special attraction lay in the distribution of paper medals (!) to the gentlemen and bouquets of flowers to the ladies.
