L to R; a couple on horseback in traditional Welsh costume and hats, carol singers and a fisherman carrying his coracle on his back; the reverse carries a description of Wales, its geography, customs, traditions and the Eisteddfod; this drink made from chicory became very popular in France after the scarcity of coffee following a blockade of British shipping by Napoleon in 1806; the chicory plant, when roasted, produced a drink that resembled or could be added to coffee; still popular in France today as a drink on its own or as an additive to coffee or in cooking, it was grown and produced in large quantities in the 19th century in the North of France in the Pas-de-Calais region, where the Emile Blonzel factory was sited at Haubourdin;Pays de Galles;
