EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT PRESIDENT NICOLE FONTAINE GESTURES BEFORE A MEETING WITH THREE AFGHAN WOMEN AT THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT IN BRUSSELS. European Parliament President Nicole Fontaine (R) gestures before the start of a meeting with three Afghanistan women who are protesting against the violence of the Taliban regime, in Brussels, May 3, 2001. Fontaine, who later met with the Foreign Affairs Commission and representatives of Women Rights at the European Parliament, said the international community must mobilise to pressure the Taliban to loosen its stranglehood on Afghan women.
