Genny Marsili's hoof. A wonderful and terrible episode, which took place in Sant'Anna, in the Lucca area, on August 12, 1944 is revealed only today. The Germans, who descended into the country, set fire to everything and slaughtered all the inhabitants, 306 of old people, women and children. A young woman, Genny Marsili, who was thrown into a stable with her six-year-old son and other victims, hid her child painfully in the fireplace. Wounded to death by the gusts of the executioners, she still found the strength to throw at the slaughterers the only weapon she possessed, a hoof! Only the child was saved from the slaughter.
