Image description

Morpho didius, the giant blue morpho, is a Neotropical butterfly belonging to the subfamily Morphinae of family Nymphalidae. It is considered, by some authors, to be a subspecies of Morpho menelaus. Butterfly specimens in collection of The Butterfly Place, Westford, Massachusetts. After natural death the specimens were images directly on a scanner by Harold Feinstein. From the lepidopteran order, these winged insects are admired for the color and design diversity on their fragile wings.
