Claude Gautherot was a French painter born in 1729. He was a student of Jean-Baptiste Greuze and François Boucher, and his work was heavily influenced by the Rococo style. Gautherot was known for his portraits, genre scenes, and landscapes, and he exhibited regularly at the Salon de Paris. In 1767, Gautherot was appointed as the official painter to the King of Poland, Stanislaus II Augustus. He spent several years in Poland, where he painted portraits of the royal family and other prominent figures. He also created a series of landscapes depicting the Polish countryside. He was a member of the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture and was awarded the prestigious title of "Peintre du Roi" (Painter to the King). Gautherot died in 1802 at the age of 73. His work can be found in museums and private collections around the world.
