Claude Gautherot was a French painter born in 1729. He was a student of Jean-Baptiste Greuze and François Boucher, and his work was heavily influenced by the Rococo style. In 1767, Gautherot was appointed as the official painter to the King of Poland, Stanislaus II Augustus. After returning to France, Gautherot continued to paint and exhibit his work. He was a member of the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture and was awarded the prestigious title of "Peintre du Roi" (Painter to the King). Gautherot died in 1802 at the age of 73. His work can be found in museums and private collections around the world.
