The fabric is decorated with scenes from David Garrick's play Lethe. In addition to the scenes from Garrick's play, which were taken from engravings by Gabriel Smith and A. Moseley dated 1750, several of the motifs, such as the Chinese-style pavilion and the Romantic landscape in the background, refer to the latest developments in English landscape gardening.
