Cap badge, other ranks, Border Regiment, 1905-1951. Die-struck. An eight-pointed rayed and faceted star, the uppermost point of which is displaced by a monarchial crown. Upon the star, a frosted ball-tipped Maltese Cross superimposed upon a laurel wreath and having between the arms four lions passant gardant. Upon the arms of the cross, the following burnished battle honours. At the top: 'Pyrenees/ Nivella (sic)/ Nive/ Alma'. On the dexter: 'Albuhera/ Vittioria/ Lucknow'. On the sinister: 'Peninsula/ Sevastopol/ Inkerman/ Orthes'. At the base: 'Relief of/ Ladysmith/ South Africa/ 1899-1902'. In the centre of the cross, a frosted circlet bearing the burnished battle honour: 'Arroyo dos Molinos/ 1811'. Within the circlet a dragon passant facing dexter upon a red cloth ground, above which is the raised battle honour: 'China' upon a frosted ground. The reverse bear a vertical flat gilding metal slider fitting. Part of a badge, plate and clasp collection. Associated with the Peninsular War (1808-1814), the Crimean War (1854-1856), the India Mutiny (1857-1859) and the Boer War (1899-1902).; Upon the arms of the cross, the following burnished battle honours.
