LINE CADORNA Forte to the Dossaccio di Oga, part of the Northern Frontier, the defensive system designed with the unit of Italy to protect any attacks carried out through the violation of the neutrality of the Switzerland, but made painstakingly for lack of funds and finally completed urgently as the Great War approaches. Built at 1730 m altitude in an area above the basin of Bormio between 1909 and 1912, equipped with 4 guns of 13 km range for a wide interdiction capability of the enemy offensive, since 1938 the strong is headed to Valtellina Captain Corrado Venini, Gold Medal for Military Valor. Still operating in the II GM, decommissioned in 1958, it remained abandoned for decades, to be finally recovered by the Montana Community Alta Valtellina and open to the public, equipped as a museum of the First World War. It offers historical tourism a visit to the barracks and passive territorial defences: the perimeter of barbed wire crossings with iron tips arranged €'a spider€™, the wall wall, the deep moat and the expanse of the horses of Friesland. Tourists can also access the building's upper terrace to observe the armoured cannon domes and machine gun turrets, along with the majestic panorama of the mountains.
