FRY ART GALLERY SOCIETY

This is a unique collection of works brought together by many of the artists who were part of the artistic community which flourished in and around the nearby village of Great Bardfield after WWII. There are 150 works by Edward Bawden who was one of the first artists to move to the area and he became a generous benefactor of the gallery, substantial recognition is made of Eric Ravilious, Bawden’s contemporary. Other artists exhibited are John Aldridge RA, George Chapman, Muchael Ayrton, Bernard Cheese, Sheila Robinson, Marianne Straub, Audrey Cruddas and Kenneth Rountree. The gallery also exhibits examples of other artists who have local connections to the north-west Essex area.
