BOMB THREAT PUTS DAMPER ON CUBAN MUSICIANS PERFORMANCE, 1998-08-26 (photo)

As Cuban musician Compay Segundo looks on (L) an unidentified official with the Midem Latin American and Caribbean Music Market orders patrons attending a performance by the 90-year-old guitarist to exit the area due to a bomb threat August 25. Segundo and several other Cuban musicians from the communist island were granted visas to perform for the first time at a music conference which promotes Latin American artists. Several hundred Cuban exiles protested outside of the Miami Beach Convention Center to oppose the musicians' being allowed into the U.S. CB/ELD
