Porteurs de farine, scène parisienne (Main title); Les livreurs de farine (Assigned title); Les fariniers de Paris (Old title (obsolete))
Carrier-Belleuse, Louis-Robert
In the Halles district of Paris, a wagon is stopped in front of the window of Joblin's bakery. Six Halles stalwarts in their collars work to unload bags of flour. At the center of the composition, one of the fariniers, seen from behind with bare arms, is leaning on his cane. Next to him, another wipes the sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief. The man on the right watches over the harnessed horses, while a small dog stands in the driver's seat.
