Saint John the Baptist (Main title)

Standing, face-on and levitating, winged Saint John the Baptist blesses with his right hand, thumb and ring finger joined. In his left hand, he holds a phylactery on which is written: "METANEITE ENGIKEGARE BASILEIA TON OURA(N)JON" ("Repent, the Kingdom of Heaven is near" (Math. 3.2). At bottom left, a decapitated head rests in a kanthare, an allusion to the Feast of the Invention of the Baptist's head.
Date - Dated lower left: "1702".
Inscription - Inscribed at the top, in Greek: "O HAGHIOS IO O PRODROMOS BATPTISMOS".
