Image description

H.M. Armed Forces metal detector toy, 2009. Produced in partnership with the Ministry of Defence, this detector toy is modelled on the principle of metal detection used by British troops to locate mines and Improvised Explosive Devices, or IEDs. It includes a LED powered indicator and a large adjustable sensor area which buzzes when it locates metal. The real metal-detecting vallons have been used by the point man at the front of patrols and Advanced Search Teams (AST) to sweep the ground for IEDs. The user is alerted upon detecting metal via an an audio signal from speakers or this headset, an LED bargraph or a vibration.
