Image description

A dragon sign is displayed in the medieval town of Sighisoara, 400km north of Bucharest, in the heart of Transylvania, on the house where the historical Vlad Tepes the Impaler, a Romanian prince famous for his cruelty is believed to have been born. Vlad, who allegedly inspired Bram Stoker's gothic novel "Dracula", is believed to have been born in the historic town in the 15th century while the vampire Count Dracula roamed the streets of London to seek his victims in the late 1800s. The plate on the house reads "In this house lived between 1431-1435 the ruler of the Romanian country Vlad Dracul". Vlad Dracul is the father of Vlad Tepes the Impaler. Picture taken May 16, 2003.
