Heroes of Italy. - Mario Paolucci, of the Black Shirts Group Tagliamento, is wounded in the arm during an assault against the Soviets. He also continues to fight by bringing with only his left arm the ammunition boxes to the advanced positions. But when the scrum is raging, he sees his officer fall. He rushes and tries to get him to safety, but another volley of machine gun also hits him in the left arm. Then, in a supreme effort, he grabs, with his teeth, a strip of the jacket of his superior and thus drags the inert body for a long distance, until, struck once again, it falls down on the body without death of the officer who with heroic obstinacy had fought for death. Illustration for Courier Sunday, 25 October 1942.
