NEG. #: 81-2886 This photograph was taken during the U.S.S. Mohican's visit to Easter Island from Dec. 18 to 31, 1886. Suggested photographers are William J. Thomson and William Edwin Safford, crew members on the Mohican. An original print of this photo is part of Wm. J. Thomson's donatlon (USNM Acc. #20,511; Cat. #129,839) of photos from the 1886 visit. William Safford's photo album of the voyage (Acc. #76-26) does not include this image but does duplicate others in the Thomson accession.
