Fresco “” The Triumph of the Republique””, 1890-1891 by Pierre-Paul-Leon (Pierre Paul Leon) Glaize (1842-1932): (detail) The Republique is a young woman standing on the chariot resting with her left hand on the electorate urn, where the words Vox Populi are serious. Dressed in a tricolor veil, she dominates the figures of the True, on the right, holding a torch, of charity, in the centre, playing with children, of the law, on the left, in an impassive attitude presenting the Tables. In the front, female and male characters announce the cortege and hold banners on which are inscribed the dates on which the events that founded the Republic took place. Behind her, a group of young women wearing signs walk in front of the tank while others surround it, with branches, the coat of arms of their clothing indicate the French provinces they represent.
