Illustration of the book “” La pratique en photographie”” by Frederic Dillaye, editions Jules Tallandier 1902. At the beginning of the 20th century, the photographic act was not different from the artist's work. Thus, the “trepied easel” is, according to the author of the book, “” built for painters who want to do photography or for photographers who want to do painting. Both photographic foot and painting easel, it allows, from the same point of view, to take simultaneously a study in colour and a photographic test [still in black and white] of the same subject.”
