Nicholas Moore's grocery, King Street, Douglas, Isle of Man, 1932-34 (b/w photo)

On the back of this photograph John James Frowde writes, "Nicholas Moore's old grocery in King St. Thomas Kewley, when he occupied it for a time, stated in an advertisement that it had been continuously a grocer's shop since 1796. I can remember old Nicholas Moore. He was a member of the Thomas St Chapel, and a son, (the eldest?) was superintendent of the Sunday School in my early days. Another son became, in later years, Vicar of Braddan, the Revd. Fred. J.Moore. Even that memory is an old one, because Quilliam and self used to attend Sunday afternoon services at Braddan in the late eighties. About 1887 or 8, and the Rev F.J. Moore used to call at Brearey to ask for me if I had been missing for some weeks."
