"Larven" (The caterpillar) A Swedish unconventional snowmobile that has now reached cult status. It consisted of a long caterpillar track with a seat where the driver sat and steered with the help of his weight and with his skis. It was launched in 1965 and manufactured by the company Lenko in Östersund, founded by Lennart Nilsson. When it was launched, it cost SEK 3,000. About 4,500 examples were built in total. Top speed was 48 km/h. The caterpillar was propelled forward with fiberglass-reinforced plastic bands. The caterpillar was 178 cm long, 81 cm wide with a total weight of 76 kg. Aluminum chassis and split in the middle. The engine is located in the rear carriage.
