EXCURSION TO SUEZ, OCTOBER 10, 1954

The filmmaker with his family are in Port Tewfik (or Port Taufiq), in the Suez Canal, which a few years later was destroyed during the Arab-Israeli war. Then the group approaches the trailer of a, traditionally dressed with galabeya and turban, open-air peanut seller. Next we see two flags: on the right the flag of the Kingdom of Egypt, which was abolished after the Egyptian revolution in 1952, when the Republic of Egypt was established (1953) and on the left the modern Egyptian flag. For a few years they waved together, until society got used to them. Two cruise ships (one of them, the "Pasteur") pass very close to the pier.
