La fabbrica di Birmingham produce molti mono e qualche bicilindrico, fino al 1931 quando, su disegno di Edward Turners, nasce lo "Square Four" un motore poi divenuto mitico. Con doppio albero motore parallelo e quattro cilindri disposti in quadrato, il suo progetto rimane unico nel panorama motociclistico mondiale.Questo propulsore deve la sua fama anche a una elasticità e a un "tiro" ai bassi proverbiali, al punto da far quasi diventare inutile il cambio a quattro marce. Il modello qui presentato è del 1950, l'ultimo anno in cui comparivano due soli tubi di scarico: i cilindri posteriori infatti, conferivano i gas combusti nel collettore di quelli anteriori all'interno della testa. Fu prodotta fino al '59.
