TOMB OF FATHER OF DEPOSED AFGHAN KING IS CLEANED IN KABUL, 2002-03-19 (photo)

An Afghan boy wipes clean the tomb of the former Afghan King Nadir Shah in Kabul March 19, 2002 prior to the return to Afghanistan of deposed Afghan King Zahir Shah who went into self-imposed exile in 1973. Nadir Shah was the father of the deposed King who took over the throne from his father in 1933 and ruled for 40 years before moving to Rome. King Zahir Shah, age 87, is expected to return to Afghanistan on March 25th. The boy, his father and grandfather are custodians of the building and surrounding cemetery that house the remains of the Afghan royal family put on the throne by Britain in the mid-1700's during its colonial rule in the area.
