"L'Œuvre de la goutte de lait" at the Belleville dispensary (triptych), 1903 (oil)

"L'Œuvre de la goutte de lait" au dispensaire de Belleville (triptych) (Main title) Geoffroy, Jean (known as Geo) Louis Pasteur's collaborator, Dr. Gaston Variot, a pioneer in childcare, is shown in the center panel during a consultation. In 1892, he founded this Belleville dispensary to protect infants while educating their mothers. Doctor Variot, who liked to surround himself with artists, found in Geoffroy the friend and painter who would share his social and medical ideals. Exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1903, this triptych was acquired by the City of Paris for the Petit Palais, then placed on deposit at the Assistance Publique des Hôpitaux de Paris until 2016.
