Image description

Pamphlet orchestrated by Bataille against André Breton inspired by the tract that the surrealist group had written in 1924 against Anatole France. It includes texts by writers attacked in the Second Manifesto of Surrealism published in December 1929. Among them are, among others, Georges Ribemont-Dessaignes, Roger Vitrac, Michel Leiris, George Limbor, Robert Desnos, George Bataille, Jacques Baron, Raymond Queneau, Jacques Prévert, etc. On the first page is the photographic portrait of Breton with his eyes closed, wearing a crown of thorns. According to Georges Bataille, nearly half of the copies were destroyed. This leaflet is accompanied by a postcard of Paul Éluard to André Breton.
