Image description

This manuscript was originally compiled in 1380 by Thomas Walsingham, the precentor of the Benedictine abbey of St. Albans, as a record of those who had made gifts to the abbey. St. Albans Abbey was founded by Offa, king of the Mercians, in about 793. The first miniature in the manuscript shows Offa enthroned, holding a model of the abbey.
